Today in Politics: Amit Shah Launches BJP’s Poll Campaign with Haryana Strategy Meeting

Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to spearhead the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) preparations for the upcoming Assembly elections, beginning with a key meeting in Haryana’s Panchkula on Saturday. The party is gearing up for elections in Haryana, Jharkhand, and Maharashtra, slated for the end of the year.

In Haryana, Shah will preside over an organizational meeting to strategize for the Assembly polls. The BJP is determined to secure a third term in the state despite a challenging landscape. In 2019, after a sweeping victory in the Lok Sabha elections, the party fell short of a majority in the Haryana Assembly and had to partner with the Jannayak Janta Party (JJP) to form a government. Recently, the BJP-JJP alliance dissolved, and Nayab Singh Saini replaced Manohar Lal Khattar as Chief Minister, reflecting the BJP’s focus on caste dynamics.

Following the Haryana meeting, Shah is expected to conduct similar meetings in Maharashtra and Jharkhand after the Parliament session concludes on July 4.

JD(U) National Executive Meeting

Simultaneously, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar will lead a national executive meeting of the Janata Dal (United) in New Delhi. The meeting will cover various issues, including an analysis of the recent Lok Sabha elections, strategies for the 2025 Assembly polls, and the demand for special category status for Bihar.

Maharashtra’s Reservation Talks

In Maharashtra, an all-party meeting will take place at Vidhan Bhavan to address the ongoing Maratha and Other Backward Class (OBC) reservation dispute. The draft notification proposing Kunbi certificates for Marathas has sparked opposition from OBC leaders, intensifying tensions in the state.

AAP’s Nationwide Protests

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is set to stage nationwide protests against the arrest of its national convener and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) concerning the excise policy case. The protests aim to highlight alleged misuse of investigative agencies by the BJP.

Karnataka CM Meets PM
